Severn Trent Water is aiming for the world’s first carbon neutral wastewater treatment plant in Staffordshire and cellulose recovery plays an important role in this. The construction of the worlds first large-scale cellulose Recovery Plant at the Net Zero Hub Sewage Treatment Works in Strongford is in full swing.
On site, a digestible residual stream and clean cellulose will be extracted from influent. The residue stream will be re-treated on-site to produce biogas and the cellulose is dried and hygienised, creating a marketable semi-finished product. This project represents a significant step forward in advancing resource recovery and sustainability within the sewage treatment industry.
Our team at CirTec is excited to collaborate with Severn Trent, AtkinsRéalis and JN Bentley and the project team at the Net Zero Hub groundbreaking initiative. Together, we will contribute to reducing waste, conserving resources, and protecting the environment.
